Richard L. Sorenson's Obituary
Richard L. Sorenson, 83, a longtime resident of North Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Indiana passed away peacefully Monday, June 20, 2022 under the care of Hope Hospice. He was born October 26, 1938 in Lafayette, IN to the late Robert and Dolores (nee Krick) Sorenson.
Richard was a tractor enthusiast and loved to crank up his 1948 Co-op E3 and show it off at tractor shows. He was a long time member of the American Legion Post 455. He enjoyed talking to everyone he met, he never knew a stranger, and helping anyone in need. His most favorite thing to do was spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, John T. Sorenson; brother, Robert T. Sorenson; and granddaughter, Kali N. DeRitis.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rose H. (nee Salla) Sorenson of North Fort Myers, FL; two children, Richard L. Sorenson, Jr (Kathy White) of Lehigh Acres, FL and Richellen “Shelly” Walker (Keith) of Babcock Ranch, FL; one brother, August J. Sorenson (Janice) of Fort Myers, FL; five grandchildren, Cole and Amber Sorenson, Richard DeRitis (Jessica Raulerson), Dustin (Melinda Lukas) and Shelby Jo Sorenson; as well as four adored great-grandchildren, Richard Jr, Ava, and Jackson DeRitis and Zane Steeg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated July 8, 2022, at 10am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2057 Cleveland Avenue, Fort Myers, FL 33901. Inurnment will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Myers, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
