Richard John Starace's Obituary
Richard John Starace (Ricky the Bull) passed away on January 27, 2023. He was the beloved son of the late Anthony (Doc) and Mary Starace. Rick is survived by Diane Starace, the love of his life, his friend and son Christopher, brothers John (Jean) and Anthony (Martha) Starace, in laws Deborah (Ralph) Ryall and Dana and David Day. Ricky touched the lives of his many nieces and nephews with many laughable memories. Born in Queens, NY, Rick was a student at The McBurney School, where he later became the school’s business manager and passionate football coach.
Rick moved to Fort Myers, FL, in the early 1980s and was the acting CFO of The Canterbury School for 30+ years while continuing his love of football by creating and co-coaching the school’s football program. His passion for cooking was renowned by his family and friends. Rick proved his “manliness” by his love and devotion to his Maltese dogs: the late Sara Jean and current Bella Rose. He spent summers at his home in Saratoga Springs, NY, where he mastered woodworking and mountain picnicking.
Ricky touched many lives with his kindness and unselfish generosity. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
Please honor his memory by donating to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at www.lls.org/Rickstarace (http://www.lls.org/Rickstarace).
A Celebration of Life will be held in Fort Myers and New York at a future time.
