I have at last found out what happened to my dear long time friend, Rick. My husband Al and I met Rick at IBM in 1957 – he moved in with us in January 1968 after his first cancer operation – we were the witnesses at his marriage to Doreen in December 1969 and we held their reception at our home in Toronto. Al passed away a year after Doreen and Rick and I never lost touch. After his stroke he was still the most fantastic communicator – he was far better than me on his Apple IPAD !! He never forgot a birthday, anniversary or any special occasion. The last note I had was on Feb. 22 for my birthday wishes while I was in Mexico – when I returned home in April I sent him an email which he did not respond to (and that was never like him not to answer me). I did become worried when I tried phoning him and found the service discontinued. I had no contact for him in Florida – I have lived on Vancouver Island, BC since Dec. 1990. I know he was very lonely since Doreen died – the email he sent to me in February gave no indication that his health was failing (but that was Rick, always up) – I only hope he died peacefully. He was always my inspiration and I bragged to everyone about how eloquent he was at the age of 91. May he rest in peace !!!Marlene [email protected]
