Grandad, I'm so glad that I did get to meet you, finally. I'm glad you were able to see Emma in pictures and on the computer. We'll be sure to tell her all about you when she's old enough to understand. I will miss your emails and summer visits. Rest in Peace, we love you!
I flew with Dick many times at EAL in the 60's. He was always a pleasure to fly with. May God bless and comfort you at this difficult time.
Dick (and Bunny)were very special to my husband Dick and I. We sat with him each week at St. Cecilia's, gave him hugs when Bunny died, and he gave me hugs when my husband Dick died. I knew he was a pilot – but had no idea what an impressive person he was. I only knew him as an intelligent, caring person. He will be be missed.
God Bless you Dick. It was a pleasure serving with you in the Oriental Band. You were ever a gentleman. I know that you also were a member of the National Sojourners and a Hero as well. Everyone tells you he is in a better place, but it doesn't make me feel any different. He was my "Friday" friend. He listened without judgement, he told stories I could hear for hours, and he appreciated me more than anyone ever has. RIP Dick and thank you for crossing my path when you did. All my love, Kerri
Granddad- I am so glad to have reconnected with you! I am very, very proud to be related to a real hero. I have loved listening to your stories of flying. I was always amazed that you drove from Florida to NJ to see us. I will always treasure the times we spent on Sunday evenings getting to know each other via computer. And speaking of computers, it was really cool how saavy you were. Watching you and your great smile, I was reminded so often of Uncle Mark. I wish you had lived closer so I could have seen you more. Thank you for raising my mother and uncle to be such wonderful people. Thank you loving my grandmother for so many years. From these people, I learned respect and love, the importance of family and home. As long as I live, I will never forget you-or your wonderful spikey hair!
I miss you already Dad. I hope that you and Mark are together now, that thought comforts me when I think of you. I am proud of you and the many things you achieved but most of all for the decent and loving man you were. I will miss trying to tousle your flat-top and teasing you about just about anything. I could use one of your hugs right now. As I told you the last time I spoke to you, you are my own personal hero! I will always love you Dad!
