Richard Donald Wendeborn's Obituary
Richard D. Wendeborn went to join his lord on March 18th 2018. “Dick” was born on September 16th 1929 in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada to Curtis and Rosalie Wendeborn. He grew up in a small railway town, Elma Manitoba. He graduated from the Colorado School of Mines in 1952. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi an honoring engineering society. He went to work for Ingersoll-Rand Canada Inc. and worked his way up to Chairman, President and CEO based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. In 1976, he was promoted to the parent company Ingersoll-Rand in New Jersey as Executive VP. Dick married Dorothy Ann “D.A.” (Munn) in 1957 and had five children. Dick became an America citizen in 1988. He took early retirement at the age of 59 and moved to Fort Myers Florida. In 1983, he was awarded the Distinguished Achievement award by the Colorado School of Mines. In retirement Dick was active in boating, he was a Commodore of the Royal Palm Yacht Club. He was active in his church. At New Hope Presbyterian EPC he was a Stephen Minister. He is survived by his wife D.A., and his children Gayle Goodwin (Brian), Beverley Ostertag (Tim), Stephen (Joanne), Peter (Lisa) and Ann Mason (Mike) and 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. A funeral service for Dick will be celebrated on Friday March 23rd at 2 pm at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 10051 Plantation Road, Fort Myers, Florida 33966. Donations to Hope Hospice are encouraged in lieu of flowers.
