Rita Rae Bechtel's Obituary
Rita Rea Bechtel, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on June 8th, 2026 in Cape Coral, FL after a 2 year battle with Colon Cancer. Born on July 21st, 1937 in Wadsworth, Ohio, she lived a life filled with love, strength and courage. She was known for her kindness, generosity, sense of humor and most ALWAYS looking like a movie star!
Rita was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed dancing, playing euchre, socializing, working in the yard and keeping her home spotless! Rita was a highly respected professional. She dedicated her talents to the City of Akron, Ohio working closely with the Mayor, and later spent many fulfilling years at Oscar Mayer and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
She is survived by daughters, Vicki Streett and Lisa Young; grandchildren, Angie Eversole, Zachary Barnes, and Jenna Konschak; and great granddaughter, Jade Barnes. She was preceded in death by parents, Charles and Alberta Totheroh; and brother, Harlin Totheroh.
Those who knew her will remember her for her smile, fun loving spirit, warmth and friendliness.
Her love and bright light will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday June 12th, 2026 at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Ft. Myers, FL 33907. Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 12:00pm with the funeral service beginning at 12:00pm.
The family wishes to thank Roy Murray Sr. and Hope Hospice staff for all of their help and loving care.
Rita will be deeply missed and forever loved.
