Robert B. Bursten's Obituary
Dr. Robert B. Bursten, a long-time Milwaukee and Fort Myers resident, died On September 7th, in Fort Myers, Florida from natural causes. He was 94 years old. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he practiced dentistry in the Milwaukee area for over 55 years. He attended the Milwaukee State Teacher’s College, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Marquette University Dental School. As a Captain in the U.S. Army, he was in charge of the dental clinic in Fort Jackson, South Carolina where he was stationed during the Korean War. He was married to the love of his life, Lois Bursten (nee Honzelka) for 58 years. She preceded him in death. They enjoyed their many travels together around the world. They moved to Fort Myers in 1986, first as snowbirds and then as fulltime residents living in The Landings community. He was an avid golfer and swimmer, and always loved to drive a convertible. Robert is survived by loving daughters Bonnie Bursten and Barbara (the late Dr. Alan) Siegel of Fort Myers. His son, Peter Alan Bursten, preceded him in death. He cherished his grandchildren, Dr. Elizabeth Siegel Faucher (Dr. Gregory) of Atlanta, Daniel Peter Siegel of Chicago and Michael Joseph Siegel of Gainesville. A gifted storyteller, he enjoyed telling the grandchildren stories about his life and they enjoyed listening to his colorful stories just as much. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 9th, at 10:00 AM at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907.
