Robert F. Etre's Obituary
Robert F. Etre 71, of North Fort Myers, Florida passed on June 19, 2021 after a brief battle with covid.
He leaves his son Christopher Etre, wife Crystal and three grandchildren: Branden, Kirsten and Brad of Upton, MA. He was predeceased by his wife Gayle Etre and leaves her daughters: Emily Ekstrom, husband Michael and grandchildren: Isabella, Marcus and Mia as well as Jennifer Hanks, husband Chris and grandchildren: Gabbie and Gracie all of Florida. Robert was the son of Albert Etre of Shrewsbury, MA and predeceased by his mother Madeleine (Chamberland) Etre. He was brother to: A.Paul Etre and wife Elizabeth, Rick Etre and wife Jan, Matthew Etre and wife Karen all of Worcester, MA, Suzanne Louise Etre Gauvin and husband
Paul of Sutton, MA. Ronald Etre and wife Kathleen of Grafton, MA., Stephen Etre and wife Katherine of Santa Fe. NM, James Etre of Albuquerque, NM. He also leaves many nieces and nephews he adored.
Robert graduated from St. John’s High School, attended Lowell Tech and graduated from Wentworth in Boston, MA. with an engineering degree. His career took him from working for his parents business A.P. Etre Builders to as far as Saudia Arabia, back to Massachusetts then to
Florida where he retired as a site manager building bridges. During his retirement he became very involved with the area Community Center where he started by helping with the food pantry and tutoring people to help achieve their GED. Eventually becoming a board member and the
heart and soul to the center running efficiently. Helping others before himself was his strongest attribute and one that is admired by his family and friends. He was an active member of the Lions Club in North Fort Myers. Bob had a passion for cars, Harley Davidson motorcycles and
rooting for the Patriots. Spending time with his grandchildren and family in Massachusetts was his favorite pastime.
The entire Etre family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and doctors at Lee County Memorial 7-north floor for the amazing effort and care they had given to Bob. Especially to Darnella and Ben for their compassion and support. You are all doing wonderful work and are
very appreciated. A memorial will be held on July 10, 2021 at 10 am at the Suncoast Community Center, 2241 Case Lane, North Fort Myers, FL 33904 where in lieu of flowers, donations may also be made on his behalf. A memorial mass in Massachusetts will be announced and burial will be private.
