Robert Raymond GeigerBorn March 30, 1927Bob was a resident of Ft. Myers since 1994. Bob was born in the Bronx, NY in 1927, moving to Queens County at three years of age. In 1943, during WWII he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was discharged after the war as a P. O. 3/c. Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA was the college of his choice, and he graduated in 1950 with a B.A. in Economics. He then began his business career in the textile industry, retiring in 1986 as V.P. of Marketing of Cone Mills Corp. in Greensboro, N.C. He married Patricia Doyle of Kings Point, NY in 1954 and is survived by his five children Carol, Raymond, Debra, Frances and Theresa and nine grandchildren. Bob was active while living in Syosset, L.I. in the Knights of Columbus, the Passionist Retreat Society, Little League, St. Edward Confessor Church and many other community activities. After the death of his wife, he moved to Thousand Oaks, CA where in 1989, he married MaryEllen Dooley of the Bronx, NY moving to Ft. Myers in 1994. Bob became a volunteer at Lee Memorial Hospital Healthpark working in the ER and at the Information Desk and, also served on the Board of Directors of the Lee Memorial Auxiliary. Bob was an avid sailor, and during his long boating career, was a member of the U.S. Power Squadron and the Caloosa Yacht Club. He is survived by his wife MaryEllen. It is requested in lieu of flowers contributions be made to St. Jude Children?ÇÖs Research Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Church of the Resurrection of our Lord, 8121 Cypress Lake Dr., Fort Myers, with entombment to follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
