Robert J. Scott's Obituary
Born March 22, 1929 in New York City, Bob peacefully passed away in his home December 31, 2013 in Ft. Myers, Florida. His loving wife Paula was by his side. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in Keflavik, Iceland. He began work as a farm hand at age 15 for – as he would say – “a dollar a day”. He went on to become a Distinguished Salesman for Channel 13, WOKR TV in Rochester, NY and later started his own perfume company, Lilac Time, Inc. He helped purchase and save the Jackson and Perkins Rose Garden in Newark, NY, which was renamed The National Rose Garden. Bob and his family moved to Ft. Myers Beach in 1974 where he later became co-owner of the Red Coconut RV Resort until 1998. Always community-minded, he became active in the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill as a result of his daughter Jennifer’s illness. He is survived by Paula (Hauser) Scott, his wife of 59 years, his four children, Cynthia (Abe) Ofer, Lizanne (Thomas) Perchoux, Robert (Lesley) Scott and Jennifer Scott, three grandchildren, Joshua (Jennifer) Fisher, Kyle and Michelle Scott and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his mother and father, Katherine & Thomas. His brother Thomas and sisters Joan Quinn & Katherine Etesse. Bob will be laid to rest in Windham, NY where he spent summers on the family farm. He leaves a tremendous legacy of love to his family and countless friends who will miss him dearly. A Memorial Service will be held 2pm, Saturday Jan. 18th, 2014 at the Unity Church of Fort Myers, 11120 Ranchette Road, Fort Myers, FLIn lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to: http://www.nami.org
