With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert A. Tagner, a beloved resident of Fort Myers, FL since 1993, formerly of New York. Robert passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, in Fort Myers, FL. He was born on September 8, 1936, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Robert and Cathrine (Corr) Tagner.
Robert proudly served his country as a United States Marine, embodying honor and dedication throughout his life. After his service, he pursued a fulfilling career as an educator, shaping the minds of many and leaving a lasting impact on his students.
Robert found joy in the game of golf, often spending his days on the greens, embracing the challenge and camaraderie the sport offered. Beyond his love for golf, Robert was known for his vibrant personality and love of big gatherings. He was the life of every party, always found at the center of attention, sharing jokes and stories that brought laughter and joy to all around him.
Robert’s presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of humor, camaraderie, and unwavering spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dorothy Tagner; two sons, Michael Tagner and his wife Patricia of Sound Beach, NY and Bruce Tagner and his wife, Andrea of North Port, FL; three brothers, Donald Tagner, Alan Tagner and Douglas Tagner; four grandsons, Brian, Sean, Carson and Kevin; as well as many extended family members and friends.
