Robert Nicholas Wagner Jr.'s Obituary
Robert Nicholas “Bob” Wagner Jr. passed away comfortably at his home after a long battle with cancer on April 4, 2025, in Fort Myers, FL. Bob was born in San Francisco, CA in 1957 to Robert Nicholas Wagner Sr. and Elizabeth Martin Wagner. The Wagner’s relocated to Elm Grove, WI where Bob attended Brookfield Central High School before studying Business at University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.
Bob went into the hospitality industry where he worked at several different restaurants before becoming owner of the Elm Grove Public House for 10 years. He then finished out his career as a General Manager at the Pine Forest Country Club in Summerville, SC. Growing up, Bob was known as the family prankster as the only boy in the sea of 5 sisters. Bob married Jennifer Hangartner in 2003, but they have been inseparable since they first met and just celebrated their 32nd anniversary of being together. Bob was a devoted husband providing love and care to Jennifer.
Bob loved sports but really cherished the love that he and his son Rob had for the game of golf. Whether it was watching, playing, or attending golf events, the two loved every aspect of the game. Most recently, Bob was enjoying the life of being a grandfather to Maddie who he adored and was so proud of.
Bob Wagner was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth and father Robert Sr. He is survived by his wife Jennifer, son Robert Wagner III (Rob), daughter-in-law Anna and granddaughter Madeline (Maddie) as well as his five sisters Cathy Peirson (Mick), Anne Bryant (Craig), Elinor Underhill (Bob), Ruth Fabrizio (Dan) and Laura Timm (Rob) and brother-in-law Jeffrey Hangartner (Nancy).
A private family gathering is planned to celebrate his life.
Bob’s family kindly requests memorials to be made to the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin or to the donor’s choice in his memory.
