Roderick M. MacDonald's Obituary
Roderick Murray MacDonald (Rod), 83, of Fort Myers passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Tuesday, July 28, 2020. He was born September 27, 1936 in Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia to Ronald and Nina (Bezanson) MacDonald.
Rod, a loving husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend began his commitment to others at a young age. Awarded the prestigious “Queens Scout” award in the Legislative chamber of Province House at 14 years old. He would go on to attend McMaster University in Hamilton Ontario, where he majored in Accounting. Rod propitiously spent his career as a corporate executive with General Motors Canada (Motors Holding Division) as well as Mercedes Benz Canada corporation and the Bank of Nova Scotia. Rods love of nature and passion for fishing culminated in some of the world's most fantastic “Fish Stories” imaginable; all of them true. As a longtime member of McGregor Baptist Church in Fort Myers, Rod volunteered with the McGregor Baptist food pantry for many years. Above all else, Rod’s devotion to his family, loyalty to friends and inclusiveness of even strangers is the legacy he will be leaving in the hearts of all who knew him.
Rod is preceded in death by his loving father, Ronald “Murray” MacDonald and loving mother, Nina (Bezanson) MacDonald.
Rod is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Beverly Sim MacDonald; grateful daughters, Robin Lee Attree and Alison Jean Rubinstein; grandson, Joshua Attree; brother, Graham A. MacDonald and sister-in-law, Dorothy MacDonald.
