Roger Eugene Wickmann's Obituary
Roger Eugene Wickmann, age 82, finished his race here and entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 11, 2024. He was born in Springfield, MN on February 27, 1942 to Reinhardt and Hilda Wickmann. He grew up in Walnut Grove,MN as the third of four boys living above their father”s hardware store.
On October 7, 1966 Roger met the love of his life, Peggy Jean Blair. They were engaged 10 days later and married January 7, 1967. Together they raised their four children, Todd, Tonia, Tweit and Tiffany in Lakeville, MN and in Laporte, MN. In 2005 they moved from their log home in Laporte, MN to Ft. Myers FL to be close to all their kids and grandkids. They were married 49 years, 5 months, 5 days at the time his bride was called home to heaven in 2016.
Roger worked at Sears for a short time before landing his dream job at Eastern Airlines in Minneapolis. He loved his job there and he stayed 16 years until he was put on disability at the age of 46 due to health complications. At that time they moved to Laporte and they opened their home and lives to fostering and loving teen boys for many years.
Roger loved laughing and making others laugh. He loved meeting new people, HUGE bonfires, fishing (feeding fish while he napped in the boat) shooting pool, his red convertible, pontoon rides, Elvis and Roy Orbison music, dancing, singing, family vacations, a good nap, his Bible, Psalms 91 and riding his bike. He loved hot fudge sundaes, pancakes and McDonalds coffee. But above all else, he loved and served his family and his Lord and savior Jesus Christ. If he had an opportunity, he would tell you how much Jesus loved you too.
Roger is survived by daughter Tonia (Stan) Harder, son Tweit (Jolynn) Wickmann, daughter Tiffany (Kristian) Alekov, daughter in law (Katia), 8 granddaughters, 5 grandsons, 5 great grandchildren and two brothers. He is proceeded in death by parents Reinhardt and Hilda Wickmann, wife Peggy Wickmann, son Todd Wickmann and brother Robert Wickmann.
Roger’s life was full of challenges and trials and yet the legacy he leaves is one of grace and humor in the midst of trials, and humility, kindness and love towards others. He was ready and had great anticipation of the day he would finish his race here on earth and begin the eternal life he has always longed to live with his Savior. So we celebrate him, his life and his legacy.
We will honor Roger at a Graveside Service on Sunday, December 15th at 2:30 PM at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens, Ft Myers, FL.
