Roman L. Gomez's Obituary
Roman L. Gomez of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Thursday, March 9, 2017 following some recent health challenges. He was 83 years old.Roman was born on February 28, 1934, the proud son of Amelia (Loredo) and Enrique Gomez. He was a man of strong faith and conviction who always put family first. He was a devoted Grandfather who adored his second generation of kids and was never too busy to find time with them. Roman was a lover of all types of music and would listen to anything that carried a melody. He was a longtime employee of the Collier District Schools where he worked in the Transportation Department primarily as a school bus mechanic.He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Maria (Garza) Gomez; his loving children Roman Gomez Jr. (Virginia) of Nebraska, Rudy Gomez of San Antonio, Texas, Yolanda Buitron (Rey) of Lehigh Acres, Florida, Norma L. Nieto (Armando) of Immokalee, Florida, Diana Flores (Conrad) of San Antonio, Texas and Victor M. Gomez of Lehigh Acres, Florida; 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings Sara, Janie, Maria T., Gilbert, Sandra, Mary Jo and Johnny; a number of extended family members and many others who were fortunate to call him a friend.A Memorial Service for Roman will be celebrated by Father Patrick T. O’Connor at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 13, 2017 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555.
