Romie Jarrett Edenfield's Obituary
Romie Jarrett Edenfield of Ft. Myers, age 81, went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jarrett was born on November 30, 1935 in Ft. Myers to parents Romie C. and Doris Edenfield.He graduated from Ft. Myers High School in 1953. He was a member of the 3rd Army National Guard from 1953-1959. He attended the University of Florida and remained an avid Gator fan (Go Gators!) Jarrett graduated in 1960 from Lee College in Cleveland, TN with a degree in Christian Education. Later studying at Gulf Shore Christian College to attain his masters degree in Biblical Studies.Jarrett loved the Lord, and was a member of the Church of God. Studying the scriptures in Greek was his passion. He also comes from a very musical family and sang in several men’s quartets including a Lee College group, The Continental Quartet and The Hymnals of First Assembly of God.Jarrett married Juanita Aycock in 1968 and they had two wonderful sons, Jarrod and Jason. He is survived by Juanita; a son, Romie Jarrod and loving daughter-in-law Helen; a son, Jason Ryan; and daughter, Susan (John) Smothers. Grandchildren, Ashley G. (Jovan) Afanador; Kaleb Romie Jarrod (Taylor) Edenfield; and two great-grandchildren, Romie and Lexi Grace Afanador. He also has two surviving sisters, Betty (Tom) Macon; and Carmalita (Bill) Dowling, along with 14 remaining first cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. His legacy will live on through his family and the many lives he touched through his music and teaching.A celebration of life will be held at International Worship Center at 940 Pondella Rd, N. Ft.
