Ronald G Hanson's Obituary
Ronald G. Hanson, 81, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on November 27, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 17, 1943, in Ann Arbor, MI, and was the son of the late Glenford and Dorothy Hanson.
Ron graduated from Eastern Michigan University where he met the love of his life, Ruth Peck, on a blind date. They found true love and were married in August of 1965. They moved to North Fond du Lac, WI where Ron was hired by the Brunswick Management Training Program with a placement in their Mercury Marine Division. Later, he was selected by Brunswick to further his education at Harvard. He completed their Advanced Management Program in 1986. He retired from Mercury Marine as Vice President of Administration.
Ron felt fortunate to have been married to the love of his life and “best pal” for 59 years. They shared many interests and hobbies. Every summer for 10 years they crossed Lake Michigan with other boating families in order to vacation in favorite Michigan harbors including Leland, Harbor Springs, and Mackinac Island.
Ron and Ruth retired at 55 and took to the road in their motor coach crisscrossing the United States over the course of 3 years visiting friends and family and spending time in National Parks.
In 2004, they bought a condo at Heritage Palms in Fort Myers and spent their summers in Minocqua, WI. Ron led an active lifestyle. He was an accomplished water skier and competed on tennis teams and in golf leagues throughout his 70’s. He and Ruth enjoyed the social gatherings and many close friendships they had made over the years.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Ruth, of Fort Myers, FL; two daughters, Robin Goedderz (Paul) of WI, Rachel Stellbrink (Brian) of South Carolina; four grandchildren, Tyler and Rachel Goedderz and Emma and Reese Stellbrink; one sister, Sherry Bell of Michigan, as well as many extended family members and close friends.
Ron wanted everyone to know that he had, “No regrets, he lived his life to the fullest with his bride of 59 years by his side.”
In keeping with his wishes, a cremation will take place, and a Celebration of Life service will be scheduled for January or February at Heritage Palms clubhouse at a later date. More information will be posted once scheduled.
