Ronnie Gene Franklin's Obituary
Ronnie Gene Franklin was born in Fieldale Virginia, February 17, 1941 and left us on January 25, 2016 at Cape Coral Hospital. He attended Fort Myers High School and fought with the 6th Marine Division. He worked in communications most of his life, a career that began with Inter-County Telephone and ended with Sprint. He was proud of being slightly crazy, and was making people laugh even in his last hours on earth. He loved the Corps, Jack Daniels, The Outlaw Josey Wales, and Jack Russell Terriers, especially the late Princess Xena, affectionately known as Nutgirl. Most of all, he loved his family. He is predeceased by his parents, Ernest Elmo Franklin and Katherine Juanita (Macmillian) Franklin, and a son, Ernest Eugene Franklin. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ingvor Victoria (Davison) Franklin; sisters Phyllis Ann Wilkins (Joseph), and Linda Sue Sumerall (Richard Stephen) of North Ft Myers and one brother Mike Lynn Franklin of Goldsboro, North Carolina; daughters Reba Lee Franklin (Stephen Burgess) of Mary Esther, and Pemala Robin Griffin (John) of North Ft Myers; grandchildren Dr. Natasha Lee Pettifor-Ko (Jon) of Lynnwood Washington, Megan Marie Pettifor of North Ft Myers, Kirsten Victoria Pettifor of Naples, Jordan Curtis Griffin of North Ft Myers and Jack Russells Holly-Polly and Paco. Graveside services are planned for Saturday, February 13, 2:00 PM at Memorial Gardens in Ft Myers.
