Rose Pavese Pacelli's Obituary
Rose Pavese Pacelli – Fort Myers Pioneer, original owner of Rose and Eddie’s and the Surf Club on Fort Myers Beach died November 21, 2013 with her two daughters, Toni Pacelli-Hinkley and Marion Pacelli, by her side. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Vincent Pacelli. Born December 11, 1924, Rose was a life-long, proud resident of Fort Myers and never failed to inform anyone she met that she was a “local” –born and raised here with her sisters: Lucy Lasek, Marie DeCristoforo, Amelia Castenir and Ann Palmer. Rose’s family and her religion meant everything to her. She loved regaling her granddaughter, and her many nieces and nephews with family and local lore. They were her “jewels” and her joy. From her first Communion to her wedding at St. Frances Xavier, to hosting Mass in the San Carlos Inn Restaurant she owned with her husband on Fort Myers Beach in the 50s, to helping found the Church of the Ascension there, to bringing meatless, home-made cheese pizza to Father Neff and Father Hickey at St Cecilia’s Catholic Community, Rose embraced life as a Roman Catholic. Rose loved being called Mom, Gram, GG and Aunt Rosie. She called herself “Nosey Rosie” because of her innate curiosity. She loved learning and sharing her knowledge via clipped articles, a tradition she carried on from her father, Rocco Pavese. It is in that spirit of her love of learning that we ask in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Mary Bankhardt Elementary Education Fund c/o St Cecilia Catholic Community, 5632 Sunrise Drive, 33919 or the charity of your choice. Rose is survived by her three sisters, Lucy, Amelia and Ann, her daughters Toni (Bob Hinkley) and Marion Pacelli, her granddaughter Andrea Nicole Hinkley-Hynes, M.D., Tony Hynes, and grandsons Jack and Nathan Hynes and her many nieces and nephews, and cousins. We want to thank the wonderful physicians who cared for her through her health issues: Dr. Shailaja Hedge, MD, Dr. Michael Danzig, Dr. James Reeves and wonderful folks at Lee Memorial Home Health Services. Visitation will be held at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens on Colonial Blvd., Monday, November 25th between 6-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 26th at 10 AM at St. Cecilia Catholic Community. Her son-in-law Robert Hinkley with her nephews Stephen Palmer, David Palmer, Jeff Palmer, cousin Sherriff Michael Scott and grand-nephew Hugh Drawdy will guide her procession. If attending, the family asks that you wear Rose’s favorite color Green or your favorite color. We would like to celebrate her life in a vibrant and positive way. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907, 239-936-0555.
