Rose S. Weinraub's Obituary
Rose S. Weinraub, 92, of Naples, Florida died September 26, 2014 at Physicians Regional Hospital after a short illness. She had been living for the last 10 months at the Aristocrat Nursing Home. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Leonard Weinraub, daughters Susan Ferkel of Fort Myers, Janet Weinraub of Fort Lauderdale as well as 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph D. Weinraub on December 23, 2013.Rose was born in Wolcottville, Indiana on March 10, 1922 to Hyman and Celia Steiber.Rose was an active volunteer for the Jewish Federation of Fort Wayne, a life member of Hadassah and B’nai B’rith and Temple Achduth Vesholom. She lived her life volunteering and advocating for important causes and social issues. She was a founding member of the Panel of American Women, a group that promoted tolerance and understanding among different religions and races, which greatly mattered to her.Rose was deeply committed to her family and friends. She was loved and respected by all who knew her.She loved keeping a Jewish home, celebrating the Jewish holidays and studying her religion. At the age of 60 she became a Bat Mitzvah. She loved preparing and studying for this life-cycle event.After Rose moved permanently to Naples in the mid- 1980s, Rose continued her religious commitment and involvement at Temple Shalom where she was an active member.Rose was an avid golfer and member of Orchard Ridge Country Club, Fort Wayne, Indiana for more than 30 years. Rose loved Naples and for many years, she and Leonard enjoyed boating and keeping up her golf game.She will be greatly missed by her husband and family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Temple Acduth Vesholom, Fort Wayne, Indiana or Temple Sholom Naples, Florida. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
