Roy Edward Daniel's Obituary
ROY EDWARD DANIEL was born April 8, 1931 in Johnson County, eastern Kentucky. After working in the coal mines from 14 years old He left home at 17 to find work in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Roy was given a job in a Standard Oil service station and proved to be a hard and trustworthy employee. Making assistant manager in only a year. He soon had his own service station in Ohio but found he really didn’t like the cold weather.It took 5 years but in September 1962 Roy and his young family arrived in Fort Myers, Fl. Fort Myers was still a small town. The Sears store on the corner of Main Street was only a catalog store with farm equipment in the back on a dirt floor.Daniel Paining Company, Inc. really became famous when Roy injured the index finger on his left hand while waterproofing St Hilary’s Episcopal Church. Not willing to allow the injury to keep him from working he became famous as “that guy who drives around in a white truck with his left finger raised outside the window.”. Roy soon became known as the premier Fort Myers contractor who always kept his promises and left his customers satisfied.Whenever someone asked Roy what his goal was he would say to still be working when I’m 80. He was still working and preparing for a customer when he suffered a massive stroke at 87 and passed away 3 days later. Roy Daniel was known as a man who kept his promises, had a gentle laugh, and was always there when someone needed him.Roy was preceded in death by his daughter Carol and his son Dave. He leaves behind his Daughter Diana, son Robbie, daughter Kimberly and son Roy Alan. , grandchildren Julie, Christy, Chaz, Cole Alexarae, Miguel, and Dave-o. He will be missed.Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in the chapel of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907, 239-936-0555.
