Rudy P. Froeschle's Obituary
Rudy P. Froeschle, 90, of North Fort Myers, Florida passed away December 3, 2012. He was born to German immigrants in Hazen, ND, where he and his brother Helmuth were the first two Eagle Scouts in town.?á He attended NDSU in Fargo, ND, joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served as a B-17 pilot until his plane was shot down over Germany.?á He spent 601 days as a prisoner of war and was awarded the Purple Heart. In 1945 he married Mildred Schow and had four children, Laura Walth, Martha Boyd, Bertha Roberts and Philip Froeschle. After graduating from NDSU, he received a degree in medicine from the University of Illinois Medical School in 1951 and practiced in WI returning to his hometown in 1955.?á In 1962 he became a resident in Anesthesia at UW-Madison and then practiced in NY where he married Judy Wiggins.?á They moved to WI where they had two children, Heidi Saidi of Cape Coral and Pete Froeschle. He served as a member and officer in a variety of community, political, pilot, musical, medical and veteran?ÇÖs organizations including Commodore of the Cape Coral Sailing Club.?á He was a proud member of the Quiet Birdmen, a pilot organization and a huge fan of Taco Bell. Rudy played trombone from age 16 until one month ago where he played with a local group at the Lake Kennedy Senior Center. The same group has played together weekly for the past 22 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Wiggins Froeschle; his six children and their spouses, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. His funeral will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. A celebration of his life will be held locally details of which will be announced in the coming months.
