My name is Diane Bolin Kelley and I think I met Ruth Ann when I was 10 years old. I was a gymnast who trained under Dick Mulvihill in Champaign Urbana, Illinois. My memory is a bit fuzzy as it was 50 years ago, but I remember Ruth Ann would often stop by our gym to train and sometimes coach some of us younger gymnasts. She was a woman with a lot of gymnastics talent and SUPER high energy! In 1963 my coach Dick Mulvihill was invited to coach at her gymnastics camp the National Summer Palaestrum up near Traverse City, Michigan. Dick brought 3 of his gymnasts with him, Linda Metheny, his daughter Colleen, and me. We stayed at camp for a full month, (quite a long time for a 10 year old,) and Ruth Ann was always working hard helping coach, organizing lake front activities, and overseeing everyone had a good time.My last memory of Ruth Ann was when I was 12 or 13 at a competition. The bars were old and shaky and everybody was complaining. Ruth Ann told us nothing was wrong with the bars and jumped up and did a cast, wrap, eagle. We stood there with our mouths open. Nobody dared to complain again!Ruth Ann was a woman with endless energy and expected everyone to be likewise. God Bless you Ruth Ann and may you Rest In Peace.
