Ryan Michael Kennedy's Obituary
Ryan Michael Kennedy, 43, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 5, 2024, at his residence. Born on October 12, 1980, in Port Huron, Michigan, Ryan spent his formative years there until 2006 when he left the state. He then spent five years in New York City before finally settling in Florida in 2017.
Ryan was a remarkable individual with a heart full of compassion. As a recovering alcoholic, he loved helping others. He initiated an AA meeting in a local homeless shelter. He also provided warm meals and occasionally a safe place to sleep for those in need. His kindness extended not only to people but also to his love of animals and nature. For several years, Ryan ran his own business as a dog trainer, a role he cherished deeply.
His passions were diverse: boating, scuba diving, being outdoors, muscle cars, motorcycles, movies, yoga and music. Ryan loved spending time with family and friends, and he was a true people person and loved meeting new friends.
Ryan is survived by his loving parents, David and Diane Kennedy of Rockford, MI; his son, Zachary Alan Kennedy of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada; his older brother, Timothy Kennedy of Rockford, MI; aunts and uncles: Kathy and William Emery, Dan and Beth Blain, Debra and William Zachary, Lisa Harper; as well as many cousins, extended family members, and friends.
A Memorial Service for Ryan will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Courtland Oakfield United Methodist Church, 10295 Myers Lake Avenue, Rockford, MI 49341. The family will received friends for a time of visitation from 10:00 AM until the service time. A luncheon will immediately follow the memorial service.
The family requests in honor of Ryan's love of animals and in lieu of flowers, to please make donations to your local: Zoo, Humane Society, animal shelter, pet rescue, or any other similiar group that specializes in animal care/rescue.
He will be sadly missed. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
