Sally Anne Casler's Obituary
Sally Anne Casler, 86, a resident of Fort Myers, FL since 1982, formally of Sioux City, IA passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020. She was born May 30, 1934 in Sioux City, IA to the late James and Gertrude Thompson.
Sally’s passion was education. She graduated from Briar Cliff College and received her master’s in education from University of South Dakota, as well as pursuing her PHD in education administration. She taught high school Advanced Placement English in Sioux City, IA until her retirement in 1981. Sally then married the love of her life, Myron W. Casler in 1982 and together they took a six month adventure from Sioux City, Iowa (furthest navigable point on the Missouri River) on their houseboat, settling in Fort Myers, FL. They traveled the intercoastal waterways several times to Chesapeake Bay and then traveled the world seeking new adventures.
Sally was preceded in death by a sister Karen Simmons in 1982, a grandchild Timothy James (TJ) in 1992, her husband Myron in 2001 and a daughter Debby Brasher in July 2020. Sally is survived by her loving son James Hegg (Sherry) of Omaha, NE; a brother Bob Thompson (Jane) of Missouri City, TX; two sisters, Kathy Hunzelman of West Des Moines, IA and Sheila Pick (Eddie) of Kearney, MO; one son-in-law Thomas Brasher of Cape Coral, FL; two grandchildren, Justin Hegg (Debbie) of Omaha NE and Amanda Hegg of Bellevue, NE; three great grandchildren Cameron, Owen and Drew Hegg; as well as many extended family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held 1:30 PM, Friday, December 18, 2020 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907.
