Salvatore Laquatra's Obituary
Salvatore LaQuatra, 89, of Bonita Springs , Florida, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026. He was born on October 31, 1936, in Montedoro, Italy, to the late Giovanni LaQuatra and Giuseppina Anzalone.
Salvatore proudly served in the Italian Army as a young man and carried with him a lifelong appreciation for discipline and tradition. In his early years in Italy, he shared his love of music as a tuba player. After immigrating to the United States, he settled in Queens, New York, where he built a life for his family and worked as a dedicated member of the Ironworkers Union.
At the age of 62, he decided to retire and enjoy traveling with his beloved wife, Vincenza. In his later years, Salvatore relocated to Bonita Springs, Florida.
A devout member of the Catholic faith, Salvatore was also involved in the Italian Club, where he found joy in celebrating his heritage and maintaining lifelong friendships.
Salvatore was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving son, Antonio LaQuatra of Long Island, New York; his daughters, Josephine Lombardo of Queens, New York, and Raffaella Barbato of Estero, Florida; six cherished grandchildren; and two adored great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vincenza LaQuatra, who passed away in 2023 after nearly 60 years of marriage. Their enduring love and partnership were the foundation of their family.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33907. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, with entombment at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
