Sam Comparetto's Obituary
Sam Comparetto, 87, of Ft. Myers, FL, passed away peacefully at his home, Amavida, on Sunday, April 19, 2026. By his side, was the love of his life for 67 years, his wife Patsy, and his daughter Risa.
Sam attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, graduated from Ft. Myers High School (Class of 1957), and later attended South Georgia College.
He was a dedicated local small business owner, including Sammy’s Shoe Repair and K&D Sporting Goods in the Edison Mall. He also worked as a licensed real estate broker in Lee County.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a passionate Florida State football fan, and an active member of his community. Sam coached a youth city league football team, the Steelers. He also enjoyed creating art through his skill with pencil drawings. He was involved in local committees focused on improving Ft. Myers, the place he loved so dearly. Sam was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, later known as Citygate Ministries.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Patsy” Comparetto; his daughter, Risa O’Connell; his son-in-law, Michael O’Connell; and his granddaughter, Olivia O’Connell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Vegenza Comparetto, and his beloved son, David Comparetto.
A service will be held on Tuesday, April 28th, at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m.
