Samuel Zimmerman, 93, passed away September 30, 2011.?áHe was born November 26, 1917 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Jacob and Ida (Knell) Zimmerman. There will be a memorial service at St. Michael Lutheran Church, 3595 Broadway, Fort Myers on Sunday, October 9, 2011. Samuel came to Lee County in 2003 from Pinellas County.?áHe retired and was a member of the Reading Railroad Workers.?áHe also worked for over 50 years as a paramutual clerk?áat the Garden State, Atlantic City, Liberty Bell, Keystone and Tampa Bay Downs Race Tracks.?áHe was a member of the Sports Arena Union and loved watching sports.?á In addition to his parents, Mr. Zimmerman is preceded in death by his wife, Helen; sisters, Florence Mervis, Harriett Weiss and Rose Kinderman; and a granddaughter, Kerry Jamison. He is survived by his daughters, Judith Jamison of New Jersey and Janice (and her husband Marc) Yallof of Fort Myers; son, Jeffrey (and his wife Susan) of Yardley, Pennsylvania; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
