Selma A. Zemel's Obituary
Selma A. Zemel, 98, of Fort Myers, FL passed away on October 2, 2020. Selma was born in Bronx, New York to the late Minnie and Max Rozanski on May 25, 1922. She graduated from Hunter College where she received a BA in Biology in 1944. Selma lived and worked in New York with her late husband, Henry, until they retired and moved to Fort Myers FL. Selma loved playing bocce, Bridge, doing crossword puzzles, and knitting. Whenever someone had a baby, they could count on a hand-made baby sweater or blanket from Selma! She was a good listener and communicator and made many lasting friendships every where she went; she made a lasting impression on everyone she met and will always be remembered.
Selma was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry, in 2004, and brother, George. She is survived by her son, Leonard Zemel of Greenwood Village CO, daughter, Francine Payson of Fort Myers, and her four grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Matthew, Aaron, Michael, and Jordan.
Private services will be held at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Hospice, Development Office, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers FL 33908
Selma’s family is beyond grateful to the amazing, compassionate caregivers and staff at Cypress Cove, which was home to her for many years, and to Hope Hospice, who cared for her in the end. We are forever grateful for the comfort and peace you provided.
