Seymour J. Roche's Obituary
Seymour John Roche of Fort Myers, FL passed away , March 18, 2012, after a hard fought battle of complications due to cancer.?á He is preceded in death by his dear wife Carol, who was the love of his life. Seymour is survived by his son Cliff (Vicky), daughter Kathy Slappey (Wayne), grandchildren, Chris, Jennifer, Jesse and Michael, along with sister Betty Hurley, sister-in-law Audrey Onspaugh (Harry) and sister-in-law Sue Babcock.?á He is also survived by two nephews and four nieces.?á He was predeceased in death by his parents Elizabeth May Hammon and Horatio Seymour Roche as well as brothers Robert, Carl, Donnie and sisters Dorothy and Helen. ?á Born in Geneva, PA, December 8, 1931, Seymour married Carol on September 8, 1951 in Meadeville, PA and began their life journey at Sampson Air Force Base, Geneva, NY.?á Seymour would then begin his tour of duty with the United States Air Force as a mechanic in San Antonio, Texas.?á He was transferred to secure our territory in Adak, Alaska and then back to El Paso, Texas to finish out his military career.?á After moving to Fort Myers,?á he would began his career with the Fort Myers News Press retiring as a Distribution Manager after 23 years.?á Among his proudest accomplishments was to be put in charge of the start up operations of the USA Today paper in the whole State of Florida.?á ?á Seymour enjoyed traveling with Carol and they both managed to see the sites of five continents.?á They traveled extensively throughout the United States in their motor home but their most treasured journeys took them to Franklin, North Carolina during the summer months to be close to many dear friends.?á Seymour was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing in the rivers and streams while in North Carolina as well as in the Everglades and canals locally. Seymour was also President of the Page Park Community Senior Center, devoting many hours of volunteer work in his spare time.?á He was blessed with many close friends and family members who will miss him greatly. ?á Friends and family will be received from?á 6:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.?á Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. ?á In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Hope Hospice, 9470 Healthpark Circle, Ft.
