Sharon Sue Nave Allen's Obituary
Sharon Sue Nave Allen, 66, of Fort Myers, lost her battle with cancer Friday, November 15, 2013. She was born April 4, 1947 in St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, IL to William Henry Nave and Hazel Irene Turner Nave. She married Roger Lee Allen on July 22, 1967 in the United Methodist Church in Edwardsville, IL. Mrs. Allen leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 46 years, Roger Lee Allen; her two children: Scott Ryan Allen and Erin Leann Allen; her two brothers: William Eugene Nave (Judy) and Robert Victor Nave (Gail); two nephews, two nieces, 4+ great nephews and 4+ great nieces. She graduated in 1965 from O’Fallon Township High School in O’Fallon, IL. She graduated from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL with a major in Elementary Education and was certified as an Elementary Teacher (K-9). She also graduated from Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio with a Masters of Education in Educational Technology and certified as Library Media Specialist. She taught in five states and was a Library Media Specialist in two states. She lived in eight states and one territory, Guam. Mrs. Allen’s current memberships include: Barefoot Beach Chapter NSDAR (Accepted in April 2011 and installed May 2011) where she currently served as newsletter editor and VIS Chairman; member of the Florida State Society of DAR, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Alumni Association (Life Member) and Wright State Alumni Association (Life Member). She was a former member of the following organizations: Delta Kappa Gamma (Society of Women Education Leaders), American Library Association (ALA), American Association of School Librarians (AASL), Alabama Library Association (AlaLA), Alabama Instructional Media Association, National Education Association (NEA), Alabama Education Association (AEA), Montgomery County Education Association (MCEA), Capitol Area Reading Educators (CARE), Alabama Reading Association (ARA) and International Reading Association (IRA).
