Sheila Dimon's Obituary
Sheila Dimon, age 83, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, in Fort Myers, Florida. From the very moment she entered the hospital to her final breath, she was surrounded by her devoted family.
Sheila was born in Norwalk, Connecticut on July 15, 1942, to the late Frank Sullivan and Doris L. Warren. She grew up locally, where she attended and graduated from Norwalk High School, beginning a life that would be marked by resilience, compassion, and an enduring love for her family.
Shortly after high school, Sheila moved to New York City, supporting herself as a waitress, serving countless visitors entering the bustling city. Eventually she met her first husband, Terrence McGuinness. Together, they welcomed two children. She cherished her time in New York, embracing its vibrant culture and especially her love for Broadway. Among her favorite memories were attending performances featuring the incomparable Liza Minnelli, whose talent left a lasting impression on her. Eventually Sheila and Terrance’s paths diverged and Sheila and her children returned to her hometown in Connecticut.
Inspired by a desire to care for others, Sheila pursued a career in nursing. She completed her studies and earned her associate degree to begin her lifelong calling in healthcare. Nursing was more than a profession to Sheila—it was a passion, particularly her work in hospice care, where her kindness, empathy, and strength brought comfort to so many during their most vulnerable moments.
In the 1970s, Sheila met Richard Dimon, and the two married. Together, they were blessed with twin daughters and built a beautiful life centered around family. Sheila was a devoted and loving mother who took great joy in raising her children—creating cherished memories through family trips to Disney World, horseback riding adventures, and karate tournaments.
The family eventually relocated to Florida, first settling in Naples before making Boca Raton their home in the mid-1980s. Sheila embraced the Florida lifestyle, where her children grew up surrounded by sunshine, opportunity, and her steadfast love. In the early 2000s, Sheila moved to Fort Myers to be closer to her family.
Sheila treasured time with her family above all. Whether gathered around the table, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other’s presence, those moments meant everything to her. She also appreciated life’s simple pleasures—a glass of wine at the end of the day being one of her favorite ways to unwind.
Sheila is survived by her loving children: Michael McGuinness (wife, Ramona), Hope Ethington (husband, Eric), Amy Dimon (wife, Margie), and Robin Denney (husband, TJ), all of Florida. She was a proud grandmother to Jeff McGuinness (wife, Kiersten), Kelly McDonough (husband, Thomas), Dylan Crissinger, Jason Ethington (wife, Ashley Marie), Brandon Ethington (wife, Haley), and Brianne Ethington (fiancé, Santiago Garcia), and a cherished great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren.
Sheila is also survived by the friends she made throughout her long and meaningful life—friendships that reflected her warmth, generosity, and genuine care for others.
She will be remembered as a compassionate nurse, a devoted mother, grandmother, and GiGi who embraced life with strength, grace, and a deep love for those around her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
