Aunt Shirley, I know you are with My Mom up there looking down on us sewing something beautiful. Please think of us down here once in a while. We will definitely miss you. I am glad you are with your Mom, Dad, Sister Virginia and brother-in-law Richard. They will help you keep a watchful eye on your kids and grandkids now. God Bless.

It has been just a few weeks now without having your company when Dan and I go over to your house. You have welcome me as your daughter in law in such a graceful manner, you made me feel like your own family. To me you are a mother a friend and an inspiration. When you were sick and I was there doing my best to make you feel better, you told me that I will become a great Nurse, so know that those words meant the world to me…I know you have tons of things to do, like probably catching up some time back with your sister. But if you happen to look over me, please Shirley make sure that I become a better person and a great nurse, and thank God for you. I will always do my best to be a good wife to your son… I love you Mom!
Dear Don and family, There were flowers on the altar at Atonement this Sunday, July 1, given to the glory of God and in loving memory of Shirley. In my sermon about the need for those who have much to share with those who have little, I talked about how Shirley was one of our most faithful volunteers for God Given Bread luncheons, and how she enjoyed trying different recipes to provide those in need in our community with nutritious meals. Given her experiences as a nurse, that was important to Shirley. Please share this with the pastor conducting the funeral, and please let Don and family know prayers were said for all of you this morning at Atonement. I suggested to the congregation that a fitting memorial gift in memory of Shirley would be a donation to God Given Bread. I also showed the congregation one of the baptismal cloths Shirley had worked on to make the cross, and we have many of those cloths yet to give to families at baptismal events.
Mom, I can't begin to tell you how much you meant to me. I promiss you I will watch after Dad. I love you so much and will miss you very much. I will never forget all you & Dad have done for me. you will be missed and loved forever Shirley. I have so many funny and great memories of you that will never be forgotten. I remember 1 year being at your house for Thanksgiving…getting up EARLY on black friday…you had all your flyers ready and knew where we were going..and just shopping till we dropped! I remember you getting koree addicted to butter mints lol…and then having them for her very time we came over lol. I still have the table cloth, table runners, placemats, Koree's christmas stocking…christmas ornaments..things you made for us…still have it all..and will cherish it even more now. I have always love you and will miss you so much…you were "mom" to me and so many others who love you.
