Shirley Joan (Jack) Curry's Obituary
Shirley Joan (Jack) Curry passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025, at Lakeview Terrace Skilled Nursing Facility in Altoona, Florida. She was 91.
Mrs. Curry was born in Edinburg, Illinois, on June 5, 1934, to Amos and Valeria Jack. She married her childhood sweetheart, Robert “Bob” Curry, in 1951 while he was serving in the United States Navy. They had four children and were married for 68 years.
In 1963, the Curry family left behind cold Midwest winters and moved to Fort Myers, Florida; Mrs. Curry was a homemaker.
She loved country music and was an avid and capable baker. Family and friends were the frequent and grateful recipients of her homemade cookies. In 2018, Mr. and Mrs. Curry moved to Lakeview Terrace, where she quickly became known as “the cookie lady”.
Mrs. Curry is survived by her children, Robert Curry Jr. (Melissa) of Eustis, Florida; Susan Hunt (Joel) of Greenville, Alabama; Marcena Delgado of Cameron, North Carolina; and John Curry (Patty) of Augusta, Georgia; 10 grandchildren and step-grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Mrs. Curry will be celebrated by Pastor Graham Stein at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, in the chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Guests will be received in the chapel for visitation at noon. Following the service, family and friends will recess to the adjacent, Memorial Gardens Cemetery, where Mrs. Curry will be laid to rest next to her husband inside the mausoleum at the Garden of Peace.
