Shirley was the first cousin of my mother, Meline Poynot. Her mother and my grandmother were sisters–Ernestine and Meline Hechler. As a kid, Shirley and her husband hosted family parties both at their New Orleans Lakeview home and at their camp on Lake Catherine. She was a welcoming presence to me at all those parties. I was glad I got to celebrate her 90th birthday at a party at her son Chuck’s home a few years ago. Cousin Shirley, Rest In Peace after a long good life!
Shirley was a fantastic friend to my mother for which I am very grateful. I feel privileged that I got to meet her and become friends along the way. I met her a couple of years ago when my Mom had open heart surgery. Mom would share stories of things they were doing and saying over these last years since I met and spoke over the phone with her a few times. It was just as much a pleasure to surprise Shirley when I brought my grand-daughters to surprise my Mom this past summer!! She will be greatly missed even by those of us who did not get to spend much time with her!!
Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. Shirley was one of my blessings each and every week when she came to get beautified. I will miss her smile and caring heart immensely . God’s peace and love.
Shirley was not only a resident at Palm Harbor apts., But she was a very special person and a assets to our community. She will be missed by a few residents and staff members. She always brought a smile to my face and I to hers when she was down. She was my second Mom.Now who an I going to get to proof read the newsletter and notices. LOLLove you and will truly miss you. You will always have a special place in my heart.
