Stephen Joseph Stanton's Obituary
Stephen J. Stanton, 76, of Pelican Preserve, Fort Myers, Florida passed away on March 5, 2023 at the Douglas T Jacobson State Veterans' Nursing Home in Port Charlotte, FL after a long illness.
Steve and his wife Cheri moved to Pelican Preserve in 2016 from Denver, Colorado. They enjoyed many social activities at Pelican especially Town Center Tuesday and their Denver Broncos football group. Steve was an active windsurfer and kite boarder. He and Cheri loved international travel.
Steve was born in Suffern, New York and was the oldest of eight children. He grew up in Pearl River, New York and graduated from Pearl River High School. His undergraduate studies were at the University of Utah and graduate work at the University of Denver. Steve entered the field of information technologies and software development with a focus on the telecommunication and oil and gas industries.
Steve served four years in the US Army with one year in Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star for heroism.
Steve is survived by his wife Cheri, daughters Kimberly Clark and Tracy Reed, three grandchildren, four brothers, two sisters and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Katherine Stanton, one sister Nancy Stanton, and a daughter, Jenna Gruben Morrill.

Stephen J. Stanton will be buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
