Stephon Brockington's Obituary
Stephon Brockington, 53, a resident of Fort Myers, FL since 2003, formerly of Dallas, TX passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022 under the care of Hope Hospice. He was born May 21, 1969 in Haskell, TX.
Stephon, known as Pony, was a phenomenal athlete in his youth and will always be remembered for his talent on the football field and the track. He was a proud United States Army Ranger Veteran, stationed at Schofield Barracks on Oahu, Hawaii. He went on to graduate from MidWestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX where he was named a football All-American. After playing professional football in the U.S. and Canada, he spent time in Dallas, TX where he met his wife, Marliss Brockington, and eventually settled in Fort Myers, FL where he and Marliss raised their three beautiful children. At the young age of 43 he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and battled three transplants over 11 years. His doctors called him a “ManBeast” because of his indomitable strength to push through the effects of his cancer, and his jovial spirit kept his family and friends laughing throughout his ordeal. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Henrietta Ray.
Stephon is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Marliss and their three children, Melia, Bria-Sierra and Banner all of Fort Myers, FL.
