Steven Duane Teeters' Obituary
Steven Duane Teeters, a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather went home to his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on August 30, 2020. Steve married his best friend and love of his life, Karen Sue Teeters, celebrating 53 years of marriage this year. Steve served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967, serving his country in the Vietnam war.
Steve’s priorities in life were an example to all, especially to his two children, Angela Teeters Kurrack and Jason Ner Teeters. He put God, the church and family above everything else. Back in 1974, Steve and Karen embarked on a Culligan Soft Water franchise and through hard work and teamwork, created a successful, 32-year business in Rensselaer, Indiana. Steve loved being the “Culligan Man.” Steve’s character was on display in everything he did… he had a servant’s heart, always wanting to help others. He was faithful, hard-working and showed perseverance in all of life’s challenges, all with his infamous positive mental attitude and million-dollar smile. Steve was active in his local community, serving as board member at his local church and Habitat for Humanity, as well as President of the Rensselaer Rotary Club. His hobbies were his children’s and grandchildren’s activities, DIY projects, music, IU basketball, tennis, biking and hiking. His favourite place to hike was the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, where in 2017, his entire family gathered to celebrate his 50 years of marriage with his beloved wife Karen, yet another incredible example to his children and grandchildren.
Steve was born on August 23, 1944 in Muncie, Indiana. He grew up in Lapel, Indiana, and was raised by his grandparents, Ner Haynes and Iva Mae Teeters. Steve spent his career in Rensselaer, Indiana before splitting time between Michigan and Florida upon retirement. To say he will be missed is an understatement for his family. Steve was always present, along with his wife, to all the important events in one’s lifetime.
Steve is survived by: wife Karen Sue Teeters, daughter Angela Teeters (Tom) Kurrack, son Jason Ner (Hope) Teeters and grandchildren: Noah Thomas Kurrack, Joshua Steven Kurrack, Trinity Oshida Teeters and Elliana Grace Teeters, who all affectionally referred to Steve as Papa.
