Susan Robertson's Obituary
Susan Robertson, passed away in her home in North Ft Myers, Florida on July 12th at the age of 67. She was born in Joliet, Illinois on August 10th 1947 and was the beloved daughter of Wendell and Lillian Bishup. She graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1965 and then from St Joseph’s College of Nursing in August of 1968. Nursing become her life’s vocation fulfilling a 46 year career. She was licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois and in the United Kingdom. In 1977 she graduated from the University of St. Francis with Bachelor’s Degree in Health Arts, and in 2000 with a Master’s Degree in Health Administration. She achieved her certification as an Oncology Nurse specialist in 2004, and became a Clinical Nurse specialist in Palliative care also in 2004. She was a member of the Royal College of Nursing, Oncology Nursing Society, American Society of Clinical Oncologists, and International Nurses in Cancer Care association, and was a certified student nurse mentor and teacher of end of life care in the United Kingdom.Originally from Joliet and later Plainfield, Sue and her husband Don moved to London, England in 2004 where Sue was employed at the Royal Free Hospital as a Palliative Care Nurse Specialist until she retired to Florida in May 2014. Whilst living in Europe she travelled to almost every European country. Traveling was one of her main loves in life, along with being a grandmother, and a being a nurse. She was a WWII history buff, avid fan of Frank Sinatra, passionate for entertaining and hosting parties, and she loved teaching student Nurses.Kind, compassionate, caring, and inspirational she touched the lives of so many people around the world. She embraced life to the fullest and always approached everything with a positive outlook. Always willing to help out, Sue was most recently involved with the social committee of the Admirality Yacht Club community where she lived.Susan is survived by her husband Donald, her daughter Heather, son-in-law Paolino, son Scot, granddaughter Lily, grandson Lewis, and sister-in-law Judy Bishop. Five nieces: Holly, Amy, Kerry, Megan and Amanda, as well as two Cousins Beverly Whyte and Lee Roy Pace. She will be deeply missed by all.Fort Myers Memorial Gardens, in Fort Myers, FL is entrusted with final care, and services will be held there on Sunday, July 19th from 5-7pm and Monday, July 20th at 10am.
