Suzanne "Sam" Hoffer, 80, of Fort Myers, FL, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025. Sam was born August 17, 1944, to Albert and Elizabeth Weiss in Little Rock, Arkansas. She grew up in Warren, Arkansas, and graduated from Warren High School. After high school, she attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello, where she earned a degree in business. When she finished college, Sam moved to Houston, TX, to enter Foley's Executive Training Program.
While living in Houston, Sam met and married Meakin Hoffer. They were married for 55 years, and their lives were a real love story, in which they were each other's best friend as well a loving partner. Over the years, Sam and Meakin lived in various places, including Houston, TX; Vicksburg, MS; the Bahamas; Murphy, NC; and Fort Myers, Fl, where they were lving when she passed away.
Sam was a wonderful person who loved others and showed her love with her words and actions. She brought warmth, kindness, and a generous heart to everyone she met. Sam made friends everywhere she went. She was an excellent cook who won awards for her dishes. For several years, she wrote a cooking blog called My Carolina Kitchen, which had many followers. Preparing delicious meals together with Meakin brought her great pleasure. She loved travel, particularly going to the south of France with Meakin on several trips.
Sam was a kind and gentle soul who took great pleasure in the simplest of things. She loved the sounds of the birds in the morning. She loved our growing flowers in the yard. And she loved having flowers in the house as her mother had for years before. In her own way, she made the world a better place.
Sam was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Elizabeth Weiss. She is survived by her husband, Meakin Hoffer, and her sister, Nancy Weiss Stephenson. Sam's family has entrusted Fort Myers Memorial Gardens with the tender care of her final arrangements. At this time there are no services scheduled.
