Sylvia Marsha Davis' Obituary
Sylvia Marsha Davis died Wednesday, June 17, 2015, three days after celebrating her 93rd birthday. Formerly of St. Louis, MO, North Miami, Gainesville and Jacksonville, FL, she had been a resident of Fort Myers since 1988. After many years of working as an accountant for a large CPA firm, she retired to live near her family. Unable to stay retired, she worked as a bookkeeper at the local theatre wherever she lived: Hippodrome State Theatre, Jacksonville Little Theatre and Theatre Conspiracy. She was also the head fundraising volunteer for Lee Memorial Health System for over 15 years. Sylvia was an avid reader, knitter and needle pointer. She always had a jigsaw puzzle going and would do crossword puzzles in ink. She was an amazing woman, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a generous and loving heart and knew how to enjoy life – she was always fun to be around. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah and Louis Tockman, her husband Irving Irwin (in 1964) father of her one and only daughter, and later in life, her husband Ted Davis (in 1981). Also preceded in death by a brother, Reuben Tockman, and a sister, Frances Katz, Mrs. Davis is survived by her daughter, Jan Klein (Jed) of Fort Myers; granddaughter, Jenean Eichenholtz (Seth) of Cortlandt Manor, NY; grandson, Jeffrey Klein (Kristen) of Los Angeles, CA, and her three great grandsons, Simon, Miles and Noah Eichenholtz. Graveside services were held on Thursday, June 18, 2015 in Miami. Shiva will be at her daughter, Jan’s home on Saturday evening at 9 pm and Sunday evening at 7:30 PM. Donations in her memory may be made to Lee Memorial Health System Auxiliary or Theatre Conspiracy.
