Terry Lee Mather's Obituary
Terry Lee Mather, age 73, of Lehigh Acres, FL passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2021 as a result of complications following a stroke.
He was born in Madison, WI, the son of Richard and Elaine (Gerling) Mather. He married the love of his life, Mary Lou Campbell, in March of 1968. The 53 year marriage blessed them with two daughters.
Terry served during Vietnam in the Army’s 25th Infantry Division. He was awarded many medals including two Bronze Stars, two Purple Hearts, and the Army Commendation Medal of Valor. After Vietnam, he began working in the housing and truss industry. His work took him from being a draftsman to plant manager and across seven states.
He was a family man, a loving and caring husband, father, and papa. He also had a great love for his dogs, Jethro and Elly Mae. He may have acted like he didn’t want pets, but he always treated them like his children. When he was not working on the house or watching sports, he enjoyed going on cruises with his wife. He enjoyed gathering with friends and playing cards weekly. Over the years he has made many friends, and was always willing to lend them a hand. You could tell how much he liked a person by how much he teased them.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Terry is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of the home; daughters Terra (Ed) Husar of West Des Moines, IA; Melissa (Rob) Long of Olathe KS; grandchildren Marlee, Noah, Ella, Grady, and Annalynn; brother Mike Mather of Oxford, WI.
Per Terry's wishes there will not be a service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Caloosa Humane Society P.O. Box 2337, LaBelle FL 33975 or www.caloosahumanesociety.org.
