First met Tom when he and Peg came to Trane Clarksville, we worked in the same dept. Helped him repaint his new home in Southern Hills subdivision before they moved in (we lived nearby). Soon saw the Lightning Sailboat in the driveway. We were skiers, didn’t know what a sailboat was. One of our best memories was getting out on Ky Lake in that Lightning with Tom and Peg. Forgive me because as hard as they tried I couldn’t get into the sailing language so from here on I won’t use the right words.
We “tacked” out into the lake wind, the boat “leaning” way over (little scary to a ski boat driver) one way then the other. Peg handling the “sails” then Tom says hold on going down wind. Peg pulled something and this beautiful, colorful, large, “jib” sail pops out and we flew. No sound except the wind and the boat touching the water a little seemed every 20 feet or so. It was magical, I could have skied behind it at that speed. I have spent many many hours in a ski boat , will never forget that ride and how Tom and Peg sailed that Lightning.
