Thomas Walter Schlotterbeck's Obituary
Thomas Walter Schlotterbeck passed away at his home on Monday, June 8, 2020 due to a sudden episode of cardiac arrest. He passed away quickly and painlessly. Born on October 11, 1955 in New York City, he was predominately raised in Fairfield, Connecticut where he attended Roger Ludlowe High School. Tom attended Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. Tom worked at St. Michael Lutheran School for 30 years as a middle school history teacher and served on the Board of Elders for St. Michael Lutheran Church. As a teacher, Mr. S will be remembered for his tie collection, affinity for Harold Baines, and deep personal connection with his students. He and his wife Katie were members of St. Michael in Fort Myers, Florida. Tom was a selfless and gracious man: always welcoming conversation and the opportunity to meet new people. He was loved by many. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Katherine Mountford Schlotterbeck and his sons Isaac and Jonas, his sister Susan Ross (Mark), and brother Paul Schlotterbeck. His family will reminisce upon shared vacations to historical sites, trips to National Parks, and attending baseball games across the country. Remembrances in his honor can be made to the St. Michael Foundation or the SWFLBSA Memorial Fund (1801 Boy Scout Dr. Fort Myers, 33907).
