Tommy "Poppy" Earl Spears' Obituary
Mr. Tommy Earl “Poppy”Spears, 74, North Fort Myers, FL passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025. Tommy was born December 23, 1950, to the late Solomon Spears and Bessie Mae Key in Panama City, Fl.
Tommy enjoyed reading his scriptures and teaching the word of God. He cherished his family and enjoyed laughing. Tommy was a veteran in the Army and served on active duty from December 1970 to June 1974 and received a national defense medal, Vietnam service medal w/2 bronze svc stars; a Vietnam campaign medal and armed forces expeditionary medal (Korea).
Tommy is preceded in passing by his wife Mrs. Geraldine “Toota Mimi Scott” Spears and his brother John Earl.
Tommy leaves his loving memory with his children Gregory S Spears and his wife Crystal, Lasonya L. Vanover and her husband Chuck, Delicia L Bonito and her husband Brian and Bridgette Spears Parchment and her husband Akpan. His grandchildren Brandon, Devon, Anthony, Jasmine, Trent, Jaylyn, Daquan, Aleah, Preston and his wife Patricia, Briana and her husband Ajay, and Jannel.
Great grandchildren Tia, Janiyah, Myron, Malayah, Samyrah, Asher, Landon, Isabella.
And his sister Emma Carlton.
Tommy Spears family has entrusted Fort Myers Memorial Gardens with the tender care of his final arrangements. Tommy's burial will take place Monday, January 13, 2025 at 10AM.
