In around 2015-2016 Dr. Pfannensteil saved my life. I suffered an infection in my ear that could've potentially taken my life, but when I went to see Dr P he made me feel completely comfortable and gave me confidence that my ear infection would be taken care of and it was after he performed a surgery to clear out the infection.
I was completely devastated and saddened by the news of his passing. I didn't know him for as long as most of you probably have, but to me he was my angel sent from God to save me! Rest in peace Dr. Pfannensteil ♡

Dr Pfannenstiel was a tremendous mentor to me and many other ENT residents. I still think about him all the time whenever I do ear surgery, and remember the great instruction that he gave me.

My condolences go out to Travis' family and friends. I met Travis through a referral from another ENT. I don’t believe it was by chance that he performed a very complicated surgery to make my life 100% better. I don't think any other surgeon in the world could have done what he did, and with such passion for his work. Before the surgery I remember being wheeled into the OR, he said hi, and I wished him good luck, I remember they were all listening to music and having a good time while prepping for surgery. His staff loved working with him, I know this because they couldn't help but tell me at every stop along the way. I can't believe this happened, and wish he could be here with us longer to help others, just like he helped me.

Dr. Pfannenstiel was my ear doctor and surgeon when he was located in San Diego,CA (Balboa naval hospital). He was not only a great doctor but a great person. He gave me a new lease on hearing and life and I will be forever grateful. We bonded over migraines and a shared love for organic chemistry. : ) I will never forget Dr. Pfannenstiel.

I am terribly saddened by the news of Travis' illness and passing...we were classmates at Loyola and have unfortunately not stayed in touch after graduation. I was looking to reach out to him for congratulations on his beloved KC Chiefs being in the super bowl and came upon the this terrible news. I have very fond memories of Travis, so kind and caring and always smiling, I'm sure he was a wonderful physician. I will keep Travis and his beautiful family/children in my thoughts.

When I moved down here four years ago I wanted to find the best ENT that I could. To my utter amazement I found Dr. Pfannenstiel. He surpassed any expectations I ever had for finding a great doctor. When I needed surgery and he gently guided me to his partner, I followed his lead and didn’t ask any questions. When I found out Dr. Pfannenstiel was sick, it was beyond my comprehension and it still is. My deepest condolences and respect go out to his family -his wife, his children, his parents, and friends. I was his patient for a brief period of time but he had a great impact on me. Dr. Pfannenstiel’s presence and his absence will stay with me permanently.

I was a patient of Dr Pfannensteil, he was an extraordinary, physician, surgeon and gentleman. He genuinely cared for his patients and always took the time to listen. He always bragged about his children and his face would light up when he spoke of them. To his wife and children, please know that your husband and father was a true example of professionalism and was a physician and surgeon with miraculous skills and was fully committed to his profession and family. My prayers are with you.

To Travis’s family my condolences in your time of grief. I went to Loyola medical school with Travis and he was truly one of my great friends while I was there. I unfortunately did not stay in contact with him while he did his training. I learned of his passing this past week from all my classmates who were also friends with Travis. He will be missed and my memories of him will live forever–I probably wouldn’t have made it through my surgery rotation without him. May perpetual light shine upon him.
