Truitt Dilmus Bradley's Obituary
Truitt “Brad” Bradley, long time resident of the Six Lakes Community in North Fort Myers and prior to that in the Tidewater area of Virginia, finished his time here on Earth peacefully on August 18, 2018 at the age of 94.Brad was born in Sandersville Georgia and spent his youth in Leeds Alabama. After high school, he enlisted in the US Navy where he served 23 years as a medical corpsman which included attending to the injured Marines upon landing on Iwo Jima. He met and married the former Edith Schmitdke December 13th 1952 and had three children, David, Kevin and Kathleen. Upon retirement from the Navy, he went on to serve as a health physics technician, a real estate agent and appraiser, and volunteered to assist people with their tax returns.He was an avid golfer with several Holes-in-One to his name and a skilled poker player. He was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church where he was an active member of the congregation including serving on the council in many roles.The legacy Brad leaves behind is one of being loved by all who met him, having a kindness and gentleness of spirit, a positive attitude and song in his heart (which often came out as humming or singing). Brad was a stoic man of integrity, pride, discipline and faith.He is survived by his wife Mary Lou of 26 years, son David (wife Amy) daughter Kathi (husband Ben), step children Debbie, Karen and Michael along with grandchildren Lia and Laura.A special thank you to Hope Hospice Doctors and staff whose loving kindness reflected the love he showed others until his last day.A Memorial Service for Brad will be held Monday August 27th at 2:00 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2691 NE Pine Island Road, Cape Coral, Florida 33909, (239) 995-0133. Immediately following the church ceremony, a celebration of life reception will take place at Six Lakes Country Club, 9151 Littleton Road, North Fort Myers, Florida 33903, (239) 995-0595.
