Tula Elizabeth Walters' Obituary
Tula Elizabeth Walters, age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2014, in Asheville, NC. She was born in Honoraville, AL to the late William Spencer Pollard and Cebelle Gardner Pollard, and was a graduate of Greenville High School, Greenville, AL. Formerly a long-time resident of Montgomery, AL, Tula lived in Fort Myers, FL from 1984 to 2008, when she moved to Palm City, FL to be with her daughter Lynn Langley and son-in-law Jim. She then moved with them to Asheville, NC earlier this year. She was a member of McGregor Baptist Church in Fort Myers. Tula was preceded in death by her beloved husband Conrad Rudolph Walters, MD in 2005. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James Thery Pollard. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Lynn (James C., Jr.) Langley of Asheville, NC; one son, James Spencer (Lyn) Walters, MD of Cary, NC and Fort Myers, FL; and three grandsons: Heath (Nancy) Walters, Charlotte, NC; Tim (Keela) Walters, Fuquay-Varina, NC; and Parker Langley of NY, NY; and great-granddaughters Alexis and Brianna Walters (Charlotte, NC) and great-grandsons Ehlan and Cohen Walters (Fuquay-Varina, NC). Tula is also survived by one sister, Doris Coker of Montgomery, AL and one brother, William (Dotty) Pollard of Melbourne, FL; and nephew Harry (Gail) Coker of Tallassee, AL; niece Susie (John) Lightfoot, DMD of Dadeville, AL; and nephew William (Robin) Pollard of Merritt Island, FL. Tula had a gracious nature and touched many with her love during her lifetime. The quintessential southern lady, she will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known her. The family will receive friends at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Saturday November 8, 2014. A graveside service to celebrate Tula’s life will follow, and any friends who wish to join the family at the graveside are welcome. Reverend Russell Howard of McGregor Baptist Church will conduct the service. Flowers are appreciated, or in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in remembrance of Tula to a charity of one’s choice.
