Umberto J. "Bert" Grilli's Obituary
Umberto J. Grilli of Cape Coral, Florida passed away peacefully at Health Park Medical Center on Friday, January 4, 2019 after a courageous battle with an aggressive cancer. He was 56 years old.Bert was born on October 1, 1962 in Logansport, Indiana, the proud son of Giorgina (Furlan) and Ernani Grilli. As a toddler, his parents moved the family to Connecticut where he grew up and spent his early adult years. He was an expert mechanic who had a passion and expertise for foreign automobiles. After moving to Cape Coral, he opened Cape Coral Foreign Cars Garage in 1985 with his brother Stefano and they were successful in building the business, one happy customer at a time. Although he was sadly preceded in death by Stefano back in 2017, Bert continued to operate the business until the time of his passing by working hand-in-hand with his son Ernani who will continue the legacy. Bert was also passionate about the game of Bocce and could usually be found playing in competition during his spare time and was past President of the Cape Coral Bocce Association.Bert leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Andrea (Lowell) Grilli; cherished daughter Christen Grilli; beloved son Ernani Grilli and adored granddaughter Izabella Grilli. He also leaves behind many extended family members and countless others who were proud to know him and call him a friend. He will be greatly missed.A Visitation for Bert will be held form 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 12, 2019 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. A Memorial Service celebrated by Deacon Rich Spiro will immediately follow at 1:00 PM also inside the funeral home chapel.
