V. C. "Sparky" Smith, Jr.'s Obituary
Sparky Smith passed away on December 26, 2010 at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs.?á He was born in Philadelphia, PA and lived most of his life in Jupiter and Fort Myers.?á He received a Master?ÇÖs degree in Social Work from Florida State University.?á He was a therapist for a number of local agencies and gave counseling to runaways, troubled families and abused children. He is predeceased by his father, Vigor C. Smith, his mother, Judith Rogers Smith, and his brother, Warren Smith.?á He is survived by his wife, Sandra H. Smith and his daughter, Melissa L. Smith; his 2nd mother, Sarah Smith; sister Judy Welch and husband, Jim; sister-in-law, Sharon Smith; sister Christine O?ÇÖBrien and husband, Jess; sister, Jenny Johnston; and sister, Katie Page and husband John; and, numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Sparky was a life-long carpenter and loved to build and repair things.?á He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing local waters.?á He would use his Cookie Monster impression to teach lessons to children and to make adults laugh.?á He never met a stranger and would leave all those he met with a lighter heart, a prayer and a laugh.?á He will be greatly missed by all of us whose life he touched. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at St. Raphael?ÇÖs by the Sea Anglican Church on Fort Myers Beach, 6425 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931.
